Man With a Van

Back in September I sent Dad a postcard with a simple note knowing that he had read my memoir and might be angry and hurting, especially on the heels of his parole being denied.

Soon after, I received his reply in the form of a handmade card.

The cover is made of pen, watercolor and what seems to be Liquid Paper or some other similar substance. It's based on a sketch he did of a photo of me at a wedding. (See here.)

The inside bathing suit photo seems to be a cutout from a magazine. His comment above the photo is in reference to our correspondence. See, I've been working on building a Facebook profile for him and  I'd asked him,

"What is the first thing you'd like to do/see/eat/whatever when you're released?"

His answer, "Sorry, you get embarrassing, when I released, I would like you send me a van and a woman. Ha!"

So, perhaps this is the lady I can have waiting for him in the van! Hey, don't judge. She's in good shape and is age appropriate. Better than him sending me a clip of a young girl or, worse, a Kardashian.

His note speaks for itself. Heart melted.
